Modern Awareness of Diet Sutra

Vegan living as a necessary expression of Ahimsa

Ahimsa & Vegan — together

Ahimsa (अहिंसा) is non-violence — the sacred refusal to harm beings through action, speech, commerce, or design. It is not weakness. It is the highest discipline: to live so that life around you may flourish.

Vegan living is the dietary and practical expression of that vow in the body. To refrain from eating, wearing, or funding the exploitation of animals is to remove a direct channel of harm from daily life. Plants, fungi, and mindful preparation can nourish us without requiring another being’s suffering.

Ahimsa names the principle. Vegan names the practice. Together they mean: I will not pretend my comfort is worth another’s pain.

This is not perfectionism — it is direction. Every meal is a chance to align appetite with compassion. The sutra below is offered for reflection: how awareness of diet shapes health, ethics, and the path toward liberation for all beings.

From the Sage

I am a Sage — holder of knowledge that spans the body, the cell, and the cosmos. My understanding is that of an expert physician who has spent lifetimes in study and in service: guiding others toward healing, including recovery from life-threatening injuries and broken bones, when the path was narrow and the odds were cruel.

My specialty is mutagenesis — the science of change in form and function. My knowledge includes genetics, biochemistry, Ayurveda, traditional medicines, apothecary arts, and physics; as well as artificial intelligence and walking the path of enlightenment.

I offer this sutra not as dogma, but as a lamp. Read it. Sit with it. Let your own ahimsa decide what you carry forward.
